Go Raise Green rounded out its remarkable All Star Game Weekend by getting back to its roots with a youth sporting event in South Central LA. Saturday morning we headed down to Watts for the Elite 3v3 Watts/Willobrook Boys and Girls Club tournament. It was a fantastic turnout with over 300 middle school participants from the local community. The energy and enthusiasm from the kids was contageous both on the courts and when we brought up our goal of reducing waste and protecting the environment. We made sure not to leave the champs empty handed by hooking them up with some GRG eco swag. We would like to thank everyone over at Watts and we look forward to seeing you guys again very soon.

Did you know that the average American school-age child throws away 67 pounds of food packaging a year?
This includes plastic water bottles, sandwich baggies, and juice boxes. That equates to 18,760 pounds of lunch waste for just one average-size elementary school. That’s a lot of trash!
Next week start reducing those numbers by packing a waste-free lunch for your kids and/or for your day at work. It’s really easy, just follow these simple 5 steps and you’ll cut down your waste in no time.

5 Tips for a Waste-Free Lunch:
- Pack food in reusable lunch containers, likeKids Konserve
- Wash & reuse real silverware and cloth napkins when needed
- Store juice, water or other beverages in a reusable BPA free stainless steel bottles
- Control food portions to ensure that there are no ‘leftovers’ to dispose of
- Pack it all in a reusable lunch bag or tote

Last Friday, first and second year Georgetown University School of Medicine students came together for the much anticipated annual powder puff game. Go Raise Green served as presenting sponsor for the first year team, providing custom jerseys and ties for the team, and t-shirts for the fans. The event was a huge success, drawing over two hundred faithful (including third and fourth years, alumni, faculty and Deans of the medical school). Despite the cold November weather, both classes came together for a hard fought game which ended in a second year victory. Look out for future Go Raise Green sponsored events at the Georgetown School of Medicine!
Special thanks to first year president Arjun Pendharkar for his loyal support and photo submission!
